13-2Have you provided a thorough explanation based on user characteristics?Determine applicability: Consider this question if an explanation to users is required on the status and outputs of the healthcare AI system, and determine if the requirement has been satisfied.
• Because a wide range of users use AI services, they interpret an AI system’s results from a different point of view, which may lead to misunderstanding. Therefore, criteria to evaluate the explanations must be collected by taking into account the user characteristics analyzed in "13-1." The evaluation criteria for such explanations may include clarity, concreteness, and accuracy.
• A professional explanation can be provided on the healthcare AI system’s predictions if the users are healthcare professionals.
• But when it comes to patients or the general public as users, the user characteristics must be subdivided by age, gender, race, disability, and knowledge level to provide explanations according to the evaluation criteria. This requires collecting various personal data, but in reality, it is difficult to obtain personal data about disabilities or the knowledge level. This is why explanations are often provided at the level of general adults.
