  • 03-2aHave you organized a negotiation system to determine the expected output of the AI system?
    • A consultative group must be composed of internal and external experts from the respective domain to decide on the expected output of the AI system if it aids medical staff in diagnosis. Be aware that it can take some time for numerous medical staff to reach an agreement on deciding the expected output.

    • If the medical staff diagnose or determine the treatment method by relying on a healthcare AI system that has not been validated to be safe, the inaccuracy of the result can harm the patient’s health. According to MFDS’ Guidelines for Approval and Evaluation of AI Medical Devices, there needs to be a review on the basis for the healthcare AI system’s decision if there is no procedure for medical staff intervention in the decision-making of the healthcare AI system or when the intervention is difficult to determine. Thus, it is recommended to have at least three healthcare experts in the consultative group to evaluate the validity of the healthcare AI system’s expected output and specific decisions.

    • Reference standards can be established (see below) to predict the clinical effectiveness of the AI system if the diagnostic criteria for a disease or data on confirmed cases need to be examined.
